UPS International Finance and Accounting Supervisor in Atlanta, Georgia
The International Finance and Accounting (IFA) Supervisor is responsible for developing operating unit costs used for the company-wide bidding, reporting, and planning. He/She collects, processes, and analyzes required data used by bidding, reporting, and planning systems. This position serves as the primary point of contact for internal customers (e.g. Planning & Reporting, Business Development, Pricing, Industrial Engineering [IE], regions, etc.).
The IFA Supervisor retrieves data from various internal groups (e.g., IE, F&A, Revenue Management, Marketing, etc.) for input into supported applications. He/She analyzes output data (e.g., calculated unit costs, Industrial Engineering studies, etc.) to define and validate business rules as required. This position solves application problems by applying the identified resolution to ensure applications operate properly. He/She holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals.
Works with systems developers to validate newly created system/s.
Analyzes the general ledger to identify required data appropriate for systems supported (Bidding, Reporting, and Planning).
Audits imported expense, volume, revenue, IE, and Marketing data to ensure accuracy.
Retrieves expense data from regions via SharePoint or email to prepare for input in the supported applications.
Communicates methodology changes to regions to ensure their understanding for future model runs.
Researches application issues and gathers data to analyze and identify the root cause.
Identifies resolutions required to fix application problems.
Conducts performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement.
Accounting Knowledge: Demonstrates basic knowledge of accounting theory and principles.
Detail Orientation: Distinguishes between “big picture” concepts and comments and specialized, smaller specific facts associated with work; notes the specifics of events and experiences; explains, in general, how details impact end goals or outcomes; ensures that work is completed accurately and with the appropriate level of detail.
Report Generation: Possesses ability to generate simple reports using basic functions in software, and/or writing basic queries; identifies information required to complete reports and identifies existing reports generated by others.
Technology Knowledge: Demonstrates a general understanding of technology used by the company; communicates basic technological concepts and terminology; applies standard technology in daily work.
Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) – Management Information Systems – Preferred
Experience demonstrating a basic knowledge of accounting theory and principles – Preferred
Experience using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint) – Preferred
