Sandia National Laboratories Classified Matter Protection and Control Specialist in Livermore, California
This position is assigned Classified Matter Protection and Control (CMPC) Program responsibilities for Sandia, California. This is not an Information Technology (IT) position but rather focused on the protection of classified information. CMPC delineates and communicates security requirements for the protection and control of information and matter required to be classified or programmatically controlled by statutes, regulations, or DOE Directives. Responsibilities for this position include developing and maintaining operating procedures for handling classified matter, supporting the operation of Classified Work Stations, providing training to members of the workforce on the requirements to properly handle classified matter, conducting assessments to ensure members of the workforce understand and comply with requirements for the handling of classified matter as set forth by DOE/NNSA and Sandia, sending and receiving classified matter, providing assistance for the proper marking of classified matter and maintaining inventory and control of combinations for classified repositories. This position is one of several Information Security Specialists serving as Embedded Security Professionals, Classified Matter Protection and Control Specialists, maintaining responsibility for Security Awareness and Operational Security (OPSEC). Based on the needs of Sandia, this position may be assigned responsibility for any of those areas.
Requires a bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus entry level experience (up to two years); or master's degree in relevant discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor's degree. Experience working with classified matter. Security experience gained by service with DOE, law enforcement, military, US intelligence or corporate security.
Sandia Security Operations (SECOPS) protects people and assets to ensure mission success. SECOPS has responsibility for Physical Security, Classification, Classified Matter Protection and Control (CMPC), Operations Security (OPSEC), Security Awareness, the Security Incident Management Program (SIMP) and Emergency Management. Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
