Responsible for the routine, day to day accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and coordinate weekly invoice batch process with all participants and stakeholders.
Responsible for new vendor and vendor update process from domestic Landlords and other lease relates vendors. (RE&F & Retail)
Coordinate subtenant/tenant process including monthly statements, miscellaneous billings and aging reports. Follow up with subtenants/tenants on past due balances escalating to Sr. Accountant and/or Real Estate Managers as needed. (RE&F)
Coordinate with Prohelp/Accenture on monthly subtenant/tenant payment activities in Lock Box. Track down subtenant payments posted to incorrect Lock Boxes. Provide coding and ensure all payments are properly captured in lease database system. (RE&F)
Review monthly rent roll to validate vendor and IO number accuracy. Escalate to Real Estate and Database Managers when needed. (RE&F)
Respond to Prohelp and client on invoice/audit inquiries regarding landlord/vendor invoice payments. (RE&F)
Assist Real Estate Managers on payment inquiries, miscellaneous payment issues and reconciling accounts when needed. (RE&F, Retail & MCIO)
Back-up Sr. Accountant and Real Estate Coordinator positions as needed.
Monitor team accounting alias, respond as need and escalate when appropriate. (RE&F)
Maintains, records and reconciles daily cash receipts.
Completes billing uploads and receivable research.
Routine accounting functions - creates and reconciles accounting entries while resolving discrepancies.
Works with other Accountants to prepare source data for income and balance sheet statements.
Populates financial schedules, reports and records for supervisor review.
Verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
Updates information in various databases, iTrack and PeopleSoft, to add clients, modify billing rules, set up vendors and customers in MTA (My Transactions) commission system, etc. on a timely basis.
Updates cash receipt information in the sub ledger accurately and timely.
Processes billing/invoicing and enters data into the accounting databases.
May either apply or submit cash applications to the vouchers/invoices.
Researches and resolves accounts receivable issues.
May assist in month-end procedures.
Other duties may be assigned.
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance emphasis, OR related work experience OR a Bachelors degree in Accounting. With Associate Degree, 3+ years experience in general accounting, A/P, or A/R clerical and/or entry level Associate positions. With Bachelor's Degree, 0-2 years. Experience with automated accounting and financial management systems.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Good written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to write routine correspondence. Must have the ability to convey financial information to non-financial users. Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and to prepare clear and concise reports.
Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations. Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles, accounting methods, financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting. Ability to calculate basic figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Follows accounting practices to ensure optimum client satisfaction while guaranteeing CBRE financial interests are protected. Understanding of property management accounting, property management principles and processes and operating expense estimates and reconciliations.
Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Requires basic analytical and quantitative skills. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form and to work independently.
OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor. Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers more complex to other Accountants, Senior Accountants or department management.
